Niagara Falls Vacation (Day 2)

Saturday morning we took a ride on the Maid of the Mist, located on the Niagara river. After boarding the boat, we took a ride past the American Falls and toward the Canadian Falls. The ride gave us a real sense of the strength of the falls. It was very windy and there was a lot of mist in the air.

In an attempt to stay dry, they provided us with a poncho for the ride. It helped a little, but we were all a little wet after the ride.
Saturday afternoon we traveled a few miles north to some wineries. Actually, we drove several miles out of the way looking for a gas station before we were able to locate the wineries. We visited 4 wineries and sampled the speciality icewines. To make icewines, the grapes are frozen on the vine when picked & crushed. This method produces a very sweet wine. Tim & I bought a bottle that we will enjoy later this year after the baby is born!
Saturday evening we found our way to the Beer Garden on Cliffton Hill to meet some new friends. These ladies were having a girls night out, and were very drunk. They seemed to keep telling us the same stories and asking the same questions. "Have you seen the lights?" "Where are you staying?" "We are corrections officers from Buffalo." They even sang Bob Seger on the karaoke stage, it wasn't very good.

After some liquid encouragement, Ted & Tim sang "Sweet Caroline" and "Brandy".

Ted and Denise also sang a few songs; "John Deere Green" and "Islands in the Stream." After approximately 5 hours and at least 5 pitchers of Molson (I lost count), we finally left the Beer Garden and called it an evening.
